The first step was taken by the University of Miskolc and Admatis Kft., which has gained an international reputation in the space industry. The cooperation agreement covers educational and research activities related to space technology, including materials science, mechanical engineering and GIS. The city administration of Miskolc assured the parties of their support.
On 30 November, the framework agreement was signed between the company and the higher education institution. Space research has a past at the University of Miskolc, now a new chapter is being opened in this story, the rector said. For the time being, Zita Horváth has revealed so much about the plans that she wants to establish a research group, which students will be able to join. Expansion of the programmes offered by the university are also planned.
The first Hungarian astronaut took over the position of chief patron of the research center project. Bertalan Farkas also appeared in person at the press conference. He emphasized his maximum support for the establishment of the center. In his view, young people do have an interest in the space industry, they just need to be able to channel them into research. – This cooperation and common ideas are innovative; it is exemplary for the university, the city, the country, and international space research, he said.
The city of Miskolc also supports the establishment of the framework contract. Mayor Pál Veres emphasized that the co-operation is a good symbol of what they think about urban development.
